Whether your starting or finishing a day, it should be done with egg and bacon butties (heavy on the bacon) with tomato ketchup and washed down with Irn Bru.

I slurped down a bowl of ramen with wontons.

![]() 05/30/2018 at 05:52 |

Do it. Especially with a runny egg. Heaven.

It’s got the best bits, bacon and a runny egg. What’s not to love
And the Irn Bru of course.

If you haven’t already, you’ve got to try an Irn Bru ice cream.
Irn Bru ice crean, with an Irn Bru syrup ripple through it encased in an Irn Bru sorbet like case.

You’ve never tried it. Wow are you missing our.
It’s a non alcoholic drink, along the lines of cola, lemonade, etc...
It’s a flavour that’s hard to describe.
North of the border in Scotland, it’s a way of life.

If you’ve got a runny egg, the ketchup and yolk mix together, man, that’s good.

Never seen ‘em, but I’ll definitely grab one when I have the chance!

To be honest it’s a U.K. thing I think. Not so easy to find in England, but in Scotland, you’ll find them most places.

I’m overdue for a visit to Scotland anyway. Need to grab me some buckie. ;D

I’d describe it as a sort of Scottish Mt. Dew. Sort of, only better.
Actually, I’d describe it as closer in many respects to the old Canadian Mt Dew before they made it gross like it is in the US. Back when it was light and fruitier with real sugar and no caffeine.

So damn British with a vinegar-based sauce. Not my cup of tea.
I do love a bacon, cheese, and egg sandwich on a croissant type bun thing, though. I just wish the double-smoked bacon sandwich from Starbucks used rashers of bacon instead of often-undercooked/rubbery streaky bacon.

found a shop in Melbourne that stocks it, so i’ll call in next week when i’m on holidays

Lol.
Aye a bottle of buckie hae.

If you don’t like it, send me the bill and happily reimburse you.
Best served chilled in hot climates, otherwise you just want a slight chill to it.

I’m okay with cheese on, but it’s not the British way really.
Needs to be on a regular, warmed bap/bun.
Even better is a stottie. a 12" diameter bun.
Sliced Cumberland sausage (4), bacon (9), eggs (4) and baked beans (1/3-1/2 a tin).

hell yeah! and if the yolk isn’t runny then you don’t have a dry sandwich.

You Brits and Canadians keep calling ham “bacon” and it confuses us Americans
![]() 05/30/2018 at 08:32 |
|
True.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 08:34 |

runny all the things, including the cheese.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 08:45 |

Nooooo. British, Canadian and American bacon are different.
Canadian bacon we tend to call bacon medallions.
American bacon we call streaky bacon.
British bacon is also called back bacon.
Ham is a different thing.
Ham is what we call pork from the leg.
Gammon is from the rear leg that has been cured by dry salting.

Just giving you a hard time. Canadian bacon is so close to ham it might as well be. I’ve never had British bacon, I thought it was the same as Canadian, but it looks to be both Canadian and American bacon. I don’t think I’ve ever seen British bacon before.

Ha, no worries mate.
It’s really good in a bacon buttie with brown sauce (I think the nearest thing you have is A1).
![]() 05/30/2018 at 09:13 |

Hmmm, sounds good. I should try to find some British bacon at a butcher shop
![]() 05/30/2018 at 09:18 |

You’ll almost certainly find some at a British or Irish ex-pat shop.
There’s many dotted about the U.S.

This feels appropriate.

More “bacon.” You’re going to have a heart attack.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 10:43 |

Nah. Bacon doesn’t do that.
Bacon is good food.

It’s like a full English breakfast without the tomato and bread frying.
